By providing accessible, self-serve tools, Grab is removing barriers to growth, allowing MSMEs to thrive in a digital-first economy. Marketing Manager, for example, is a self-serve platform that allows them to run ads, promotions, and spotlight campaigns with ease. Grab also helps them make informed decisions by providing summaries and insights of their business performance on the GrabMerchant app and Portal.
Beyond bringing millions of businesses online, Grab is now extending tech capabilities to help digitise brick-and-mortar businesses across the region. Through the app, Grab gives merchant-partners greater discoverability, provides Dine Out Deals to drive foot traffic and earnings for merchant-partners, and allows users to make reservations for their preferred restaurant.
In 2024, Grab launched the AI Merchant Assistant, an AI-powered chatbot that is integrated into the GrabMerchant app. This assistant provides personalised recommendations, answers business-related questions, and assists with tasks such as setting up marketing campaigns or adding AI-generated photos and descriptions to menus.
Yani, a Jakarta-based stay-at-home mom and gado-gado entrepreneur, used AI Merchant Assistant to analyse customer trends and expand her menu.
"“I really enjoyed being able to ‘discuss’ with the AI Merchant Assistant on how I can improve my business. It’s like chatting with someone during my free time—no need to make appointments or leave the house. This is my first time using AI, and it’s amazing what it can do.”
